I enjoy going to the grocery store. I like wandering up and down the isles, looking at new foods and brainstorming all the fun things I could make... but because I am gluten free I need to go to the store with a list of items that I need that I know are gluten free. (If I don't, there is a good chance I'll spend a half hour standing in the isle looking up the gluten free status of 4 different brands of BBQ sauce on my iphone...)
I have found that the online grocery store, Peapod, is a great tool for putting together grocery lists. Not only is it helpful for people who need to eat gluten free - it's also handy for people who need to follow other types of special diets.
Signing up for a Peapod account gives you access to a feature called NutriFilter. With NutriFilter, you can set filters for the types of foods you need to find in the store. There are filters for most of the major food allergens (egg, dairy, gluten and peanut), good fiber, low fat, and low sodium. Just set the filter to the type of food you are looking for and when you shop, your filters let you know what foods work for you.
You can add the foods to your shopping cart and either purchase them online or create a list to bring with you to the store. So helpful!!! This is a great resource and it has saved me a ton of time at the grocery store over the last few years!
